Whiskey University Recruiter

Colonel Frank Trotta has been a member of Whiskey University since December 2020. In 2016 Whiskey University began offering Certificates, Diplomas and Degrees. Frank earned his Bourbon Diploma on February 2nd, 2021.

Frank, a retired lawyer, is married, and has three adult children and four grandchildren. His first taste of bourbon was “Old Grand Dad” – and that is what he asked his grandchildren to call him.  He lives in York County, South Carolina.

One of Frank’s children, after the first year of teaching high school, needed some “rest and relaxation.”  Being a Kentucky Colonel, Frank suggested a trip to the Kentucky Bourbon Trail.  So he and his daughter spent four days touring distilleries.  They both became bourbon aficionados.  When the opportunity to learn about bourbon and its history arose through Whiskey University Frank jumped at the chance.

He was one of the first of eighty students to earn his Associate Degree after passing 16 classes on April 13th, 2021.  On August 10th, 2021 he earned his Bachelors of Science Degree with 25 Whiskey University classes on December 12th, 2021 Trotta earned his Bachelors of Arts Degree and on June 15th, 2024 is Master of Science at Whiskey University.

Frank has attained the status of ”Chartered Master Bourbon Taster” at Whiskey University, and has been accredited as a ”Certified Bourbon Steward” by the Steward a Stave & Thief Society.  Some of his other whiskey affiliations are listed below.   He holds the rank of Captain in the Bourbon Brigade, a charitable organization.

Interested in history and religion Frank is developing a Whiskey University class entitled “Holy Spirits” dealing with the religious connections and history of bourbon.
