Jay Puckett joined Whiskey University on August 3rd, 2021. In 2016 Whiskey University began offering Certificates, Diplomas, and Degrees. He earned his Bourbon Diploma on October 17th, 2021.
Jay holds an M.B.A. and a Masters of Finance degree. He received his undergraduate degree in Engineering at the U.S. Air Force Academy. He served five years in the Air Force working within the Communications and Information career field where he tested airborne satellite communication systems in multiple fixed and rotor airframes across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. He reached the rank of Captain before separating and moving into the civilian sector where he now works in corporate finance. Originally from Lawrenceburg, KY, he grew up in New Jersey but now resides in Northeast Atlanta, GA with his wife Cathy. They have been married for 25 years and have two children in college.
On February 6th, 2022 Jay earned his Bachelor of Science Degree with 25 classes at Whiskey University. Jay followed that up by earning his Bachelor of Arts Degree in short order at 30 classes on April 3rd, 2022. With that degree Jay became a "Master Bourbon Taster" with the rank of Captain in the Bourbon Brigade.
It's likely he was born with a taste for Bourbon coming from the hometown of Wild Turkey and Four Roses, but his appreciation for each bottle has grown through his experience with Whiskey University. While he thoroughly enjoys sipping on all of the major spirits, Bourbon and Rye Whiskey take up the prime real estate in his bar. Jay is a Kentucky Colonel, and also a Certified Bourbon Steward with the Stave and Thief Society, a Certified Specialist of Spirits with the Society of Wine Educators, a Certified Scotch Professional with the Council of Whisky Masters, and holds certificates in Irish Whiskey, Gin, and Tequila.
